What is UKARA

Information about UKARA

UKARA ‘United Kingdom Airsoft Retailers Association’ is a database which holds the details of its registered Airsoft players in the UK. This allows shops/retailers to check whether an individual has the correct details to purchase a RIF (Replica Imitation Firearms).

For individuals to be able to obtain a UKARA registration, they need to visit a UKARA-registered Airsoft site 3 times or more outside of 56 days or 8 weeks. Once completed the Airsoft Site will be able to stamp your paperwork and enter your details into the UKARA database. You will then receive your UKARA number, to which will then enable you to purchase a RIF.

There are alternative ways of being allowed to purchase a RIF, which include:

  • An alternative valid defence (some examples are listed below)
  •           Have your RIF painted in two-tone colours (available options on our site). This means that 51% of your RIF will be sprayed in a bright colour.

Other Airsoft defences

  • Halo Mill Membership
  • SWAT P.A.S.S. Membership
  • Combat South Membership
  • For re-enactment
  • For TV/Production/Theatre
  • For Civil Service Use

Alternatively, if you regularly play at a specific UKARA-recognised airsoft site, you can ask them to email ourselves with your details.

This is a limited list of other defences we can accept, however, if you have questions or need more information, please contact us at the email address provided below.

FAQ’s

Q – Why do you charge extra for two-tone service?
A – We have to charge for this service as we will need to strip the weapon, use high-quality spray paint and then re-construct the RIF.

Q – Do I need a UKARA for countries outside of England, Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland?
A – Countries outside of the UK do not require defences to be purchased, however, you will need to check on the specific laws of your country.

Q – Exceptions for re-enactment, TV, Production, Theatre & Civil Service use?
A - We will take these on a case-by-case basis. If you email us at the address provided below with your details, we will be able to let you know on the best ways to proceed.
