It has been a long while since the original VFC Umarex Glock 17 Gen5 GBB Airsoft pistol was released. An overall great pistol that features strong felt recoil with its increased cylinder size and its revolutionary patented "Guide-Hop" system, which allows end users to adjust the hop-up via the guide rod assembly without needing to remove the slide. Not to mention the plethora of Gen5 variants released after it, like the G45, the G19 Gen5, and the G42, which saturated the Airsoft Glock market! However, all of those offerings came with a single glaring problem: they did not come optic-ready out of the box.

After waiting for half a decade, VFC, under the Umarex umbrella, has finally finished developing and is releasing the Glock Gen5 MOS GBB Airsoft pistol variant! The VFC Glock 19 Gen5 MOS is the next Glock series that introduces a whole slew of improvements and upgrades over the original. While the slide and frame are the same aluminum alloy and nylon polymer construction, the slide now features what many VFC Glock Gen5 users have wanted for a long time: the MOS interface. MOS stands for "Modular Optic System", and it allows end users to easily install a red dot optic of their preference via the use of modular optic plates that come included with the pistol. Plate #01 is designed for the Docter/Noblex optic footprint, plate #02 is designed for the Trijicon RMR optic footprint, plate #03 is designed for the C-More optic footprint, and plate #04 is designed for the Leupold optic footprint.

In addition to the new MOS interface, VFC has also redesigned the blowback unit to accommodate the MOS interface and has enlarged the cylinder assembly, giving the pistol a 30% stronger felt recoil! The blowback nozzle is also redesigned to accommodate the larger cylinder and simulates a dummy bullet, making press checking maneuvers look that much cooler, albeit useless for Airsoft. The hammer assembly has also been updated, featuring a self-lubricating surface treatment that protects as well as maximizes the spread of oil and grease to allow the whole action to function smoothly like butter on a pan.

The VFC Umarex Glock 17 Gen5 MOS has the same ambidextrous capabilities as the original, featuring an ambidextrous slide catch/release and a swappable left-to-right magazine release button for user accessibility. The dummy extractor has been updated to be an integrated single piece with the slide and is no longer removable, and the slide comes equipped with front and rear serrations to aid in slide manipulation. The G17 Gen5 MOS also comes equipped with standard GLOCK U-notch polymer irons, which are great for fast "point & shoot" target acquisition.
