DCA Upgrade Tiers Explained

When shopping on our website you will find many of our AEG(Automatic Electric Guns) have Tier Package options displayed on the product
pages. The aim of this blog post is to help you better understand what these
Tier packages mean as well as explaining the benefits and advantages of adding
a Tier to your weapon setup.
These Tiers are tailored to each weapon type and have been
honed and adjusted over the last 10 years into the most finely tuned,
repeatable and dependable upgrade packages available on the market today.
The majority of Assault Rifles and Sub Machine Guns will have 3 Tiers plus the option of a mosfet where possible, the Machine guns primarily have either the 3 Tier options or, a single consolidated upgrade option where required. With regards to DMR rifles, you can select the Tiers as usual and then in the comments box on checkout, write if you would like the rifle as a full auto capable sub 350fps battle rifle, or, as a semi-locked DMR up to 450fps, we always suggest 420fps for DMRs as this allows you to play the majority of game sites.
What is Tier 1
In Layman’s terms, Tier 1 is a flat hop and tightbore barrel
upgrade package. We remove the hop and inner barrel, replace the inner barrel
with a tightbore usually 6.02mm barrel, replace the bucking with an improved
aftermarket version either from Prometheus or Maple Leaf, and likewise with the
flat hop tensioner.
Flat hop provides greater surface friction over the BB,
imparting more backspin, this increases range and accuracy, the texture and
density of the hop-up bucking and the tightbore barrel and is designed to maximise
this effect to provide a high-performance skirmish-ready hop-up solution. Many shops offer an R-Hop service, and, although these hop solutions
provide good performance, they can be less reliable and robust. This is the
reason why we stick with flat hop setups to provide 90% of the performance of
an R-Hop, but, with far better reliability and ease of maintenance.
Because Tier 1 does not require us to enter the gearbox of
any given rifle, we do not offer any extended warranty period with this tier.
Instead, the rifle remains under our standard warranty period.
What is Tier 2
Tier 2 is designed to take the excellent range and accuracy
setup from our Tier 1 package and combine this with an overhaul of the weapons
gearbox. This upgrade Tier aims to improve the rate of fire on automatic,
and, in turn, to improve trigger response on semi-automatic mode. When the
gearbox cycles faster, this reduces the time required to wait for follow-up
shots. Essentially with Tier 2, the weapon will fire as fast as you can pull the
trigger.
As well as improvements in the rate of fire and trigger response Tier 2 also looks to reduce gearbox noise and improve overall reliability. This is done by using components that are hardier than the out-of-the-box parts, and, by taking our 10 years plus of experience and putting this into our builds. Our knowledgeable technical staff understand what is required to ensure a gearbox runs at maximum performance and efficiency.
All builds Tier 2 and up are covered by our extended 6-month warranty as we have carried out the internal work ourselves and rectified any issues from the factory.
Unless
otherwise stated only 7.4v batteries are covered by warranty, and, we have
built the gun to perform optimally on a 7.4v Lipo, this means if
you run an 11.1v the rifle will be so highly tuned that the gearbox will cause
itself heavy wear and tear through simple rate of fire. The only rifles we tend
to cover for 11.1v under warranty are DMRs with high fps and rifles where the
mosfet will only accept 11.1v Lipo batteries.
What is Tier 3
Tier 3 is designed to take the excellent range and accuracy,
performance and reliability of our Tier 2 setup and combine this with some
additional parts such as gearbox shells, or, with premium performance parts
such as brushless motors. The aim of this upgrade Tier is to provide maximum
performance based on what is available on the market at that time.
This Tier will offer incredible range, accuracy, trigger
response and overall performance. This increased performance can result in
greater wear to parts such as Pistons so there can be an increased
maintenance requirement with this Tier as opposed to Tier 2. Naturally
pushing the boundaries of performance puts more stress on the internal
components.
Optional Mosfets
Where possible our AEG upgrade Tiers are accompanied by the
option to add an aftermarket mosfet such as GATE TITAN II, GATE TITAN, GATE
ASTER etc. We have chosen to stick with GATE over the years as their products
are the best available.
The addition of a high-performance mosfet is arguably the best single upgrade part you can include into your build, these mosfet will improve efficiency, rate of fire and gearbox reliability whilst providing a host of customisable options such as Semi Lock, Binary Trigger and Pre-Cocking. We strongly suggest that you leave the Mosfet set as it comes installed from us and only change the fire selector mode settings at home. This is to ensure maximum performance and reliability.
