The CM.056M model is based on the AKM rifle - a modernised version of the legendary AK-47 developed by Mikhail Kalashnikov in 1959. The weapon quickly gained popularity among Warsaw Pact armed forces and was manufactured in factories including Tula and Izhmash. The AKM retained the classic wooden stock but featured a simplified design that allowed for easier mass production. Many variants were developed, such as the AKMS, AKML, and AKMP, and it was eventually replaced by the newer AK-74 in 1974.

The replica is fully constructed from steel, including the receiver, outer barrel, front sight base, folding stock, gas tube, and aiming mechanisms. This ensures structural rigidity, durability, and a realistic feel during use. The pistol grip is made from solid polymer, while the stock, handguard, and upper handguard are crafted from wood. All parts are precisely fitted, ensuring no play and smooth operation.

Inside the replica is CYMA's latest V3 gearbox with a quick spring change system - a reinforced version with a bearing-mounted steel spring guide.
